While the title of this website may be a bit misleading, is started out to be, and is in fact, a site on RECYCLING.

It is impossible to recycle without first saving things to RECYCLE.

Included on the pages you will find ways to recycle almost anything that would have originally gone in the garbage. Things like OLD BLUE JEANS---TIN CANS ---PINECONES--- CANDLES-- -PICTURED AND PHOTOGRAPHS--- INFORMATION--- SCRAPS AND LEFTOVERS FROM OTHER PROJECTS--- AND EVEN WORDS.

ALONG WITH SEEING THE RESULTS OF SOME OF THESE PROJECTS, YOU MAY FIND THE DIRECTIONS FOR DOING THEM OR THE INFORMATION FOR ORDERING PATTERNS OR FINISHED PRODUCTS.

PACK RAT  (pak rat, n ) aka: WOOD RAT; especially :1. a bushy-tailed rodent (Neotoma cinerea) of the Rocky Mountain area that has well-developed cheek pouches and hoards food and miscellaneous objects
2 :  collectors-one who collects or hoards especially unneeded items

recycler - a Pack Rat who finds a use for all the things he/she collects

It is my humble opinion that the two legged packrats (homo sapiens) are just as much a victim of birth and the four legged variety (Neotoma cinerea).

However, while the humble WOOD RAT is the only type of Neotoma cinerea, it seems that the Homo sapiens fall into several distinct categories.

GRAB BAG PACK RAT - This is the true pack rat. He/she collects anything that someone else throws away.
My husband falls into this category. He once worked for the city, and brought home things ranging from a king size bed, complete with mattress and box springs, to books which he has never looked at  and never intends to.
The GRAB BAG PACK RAT has no idea what he/she has around the house, nor where to find what he/she knows is there. Organization is not one of his/her character traits. He/she does not collect with the intention of using, but just to keep IT from being thrown away.

VERITABLE PACK RAT -This pack rat collect only things that fit into his/her interest, talents or hobbies. The problem with this is that the VERITABLE PACK RAT has so many interest, talents and hobbies as to make them almost as bad as the GRAB BAG PACK RAT. The one factor that sets them apart is that the VERITABLE PACK RAT plans to use everything they collect. They also plan to get it all organized someday. Of course someday seldom comes, and if he/she does make an attempt at organization, the job is so monumental that it never get finished. I am a VERITABLE PACK RAT.

MONOMANIAC PACK RAT -My mother was a MONOMANIAC PACK RAT. Everything she collected had to do with sewing in some way. It was fabric, patterns, trims, buttons, etc. She also kept these things well enough organized that she could find and use them when the occasion arose. I am not sure this is a real PACK RAT.

What kind of PACK RAT are you? If you do not fit into one of the categories defined here, tell me about your type of collection, and I will post it here.
